Communication & Creative Arts Move

This upcoming fall semester 2016 the School of Communications and Creative Arts  is moving their whole staff and classes to the place once known as the indoor track located in Green Hall.

The track team is being moved to a new location, and so the School of Communication and Creative Arts will be in  Green Hall where the track use to be.  Construction has already begun in that  area, and it has been closed off.  The idea for the department has already been developed.

The plan is for there to be:
  • A lobby with glass double doors
  • Floor to ceiling glass windows
  • New common area with lounge feel
  • A collaborative area
  • A new Theater that doubles as a class room
  • A place for a Radio station (90.9 The Light)

Faculty members have been excited, according to Dr. Carey Martin this move has been long awaited. The School of Communications and Creative Arts has been waiting for this, and believe that it is going to help development and growth of the department as a whole.

“I think in the long run it will be a very positive move. The fact that all four schools in the School of Communications and Creative Arts will be together under one roof, I think is going to promote greater synergy and cooperation amongst Digi (digital media), Theater , SADA (Studio & Digital Arts) and Cini (Cinematic Arts)i and that’s only going to be a good thing in the long run,” Martin said.

There will be great opportunities  for students to be collaborative with peers in the environment School of Communication and Creative Arts is trying to achieve. The students are even talking about the excitement of the new location and how it’s going to help advance  their education.

Traequan Christian Strategic Communications major says “I think the move will help the Communications Department because we will have our own stuff, and it’ll be I guess more space for us to have like our own area and a new like equipment and stuff will be beneficial to the students.”

The above story was written by a student journalist at Liberty University for a class project.
